The classic Sew House Seven House Toaster Sweater has been around for a long time; you may even have it in your pattern stash! The question is, have you made it yet? Now is the time! This comfy, cozy knit top is great as we transition to colder weather.

The Toaster Sweater can by made either on a serger or a traditional sewing machine. During the first day of class, we will prepare the pattern, cut fabric, and sew the sleeves.
The second week, we will tackle the neckband, body, cuffs, and bottom band.

It is recommended that students make version 1. Depending on fabric, topstitching may not be suitable. If you choose to do version 1 with topstitching or version 2, you will need a regular sewing machine with knit needles and a twin needle (wide), even if you are using a serger for most of the construction.

This class is designed for students who have some experience sewing with knits, having sewn at least one or two garments using knit fabrics.

To be successful in this class and to be able to repeat the process at home, you should know how to read a pattern and its instructions and how to lay out your fabric for cutting, including understanding the concept of the right and wrong sides of the fabric.

Of course, students must be proficient using a sewing machine, including how to change settings and set up your machine for sewing. If using a serger, you should have used your serger recently and must be confident both sewing with it and changing threads.

Class supplies must be purchased from Silk Road Textiles, either in store or through the SRT Online Marketplace. By using our high quality products, you know that you have the right tools and fibers to set you up for success, and we are able to keep our class prices down.
