It is a day for celebrating the creative pursuits of quilters, sewists, fabric enthusiasts, and crafters everywhere while supporting the local quilt shops that make it all possible. Come on in, shop local, and get a fabric fix!

Art Deco Crochet Along Begins Tuesday,  February 15, 6-8pm

Inspired by geometric designs, streamlined forms, and sometimes offbeat colors, the Art Deco movement was stylish, influential, and omnipresent from 1925 through the 1940s. Art Deco was reflected in paintings, crafts, fine arts, and even architecture.

Join us to crochet a marvelous Art Deco inspired afghan! The Crochet Along (CAL) will meet twelve times from 6-8pm on the 1st and 3rd Tuesdays, starting February 15. Can't make every meeting? No problem! We can catch you up!

The Art Deco Afghan is crocheted with Berroco Vintage, and the price of the yarn is included in the class price. Click here for more information and to register.

Dates: 2/15, 3/1, 3/15, 4/5, 4/19, 5/3, 5/17, 6/7, 6/21, 7/5, 7/19, AND 8/2, 6-8pm

Mittenfest Drop-Off Through Wednesday, February 2, 2022

Drop-off Deadline extended to 2/2/22

The Bombshells of Cincinnati, a yarn-bombing group made up of local knitting and crochet enthusiasts, are partnering with 3CDC (Cincinnati Center City Development Corporation) to create a colorful landscape in Washington Park, downtown Cincinnati, for the winter event Mittenfest 2022. As part of the event, the Bombshells are looking to involve the community, notably our SRT Tribe, in the making and gifting of mittens to those who need them.

The Bombshells welcome mittens made in any technique, color, fiber, size, pattern – as long as the mittens are a pair and are functional. Hang tags are available at Silk Road Textiles to include the first name of the maker to show a connection with those on the receiving end. Finished mittens will be distributed through 3CDC and at Mittenfest 2022.

Silk Road Textiles has agreed to have supplies available at a 10% savings for those who wish to make mittens. We have also offered to house a collection bin for finished handmade mittens. Makers are very welcome to use yarns from their own stash, too. Deadline for dropping off finished pairs of mittens at SRT is Wednesday, February 2. Remember to attach pairs of mittens together by tying or safety pinning them to each other.

As a thank you, the Bombshells will embroider each maker’s name on a banner to be displayed during Mittenfest.

Do you welcome the challenge of creating mittens for Mittenfest Cincinnati 2022? Are you eager to start? See below for pattern links.*
