Kawandi is a style of quilting that originates from the Siddi community of African descent in Western India and Pakistan.  It is characterized by its unique construction method of layering fabric scraps, working from the outside in, and using a long running stitch.  Traditional Kawandi quilts are hand stitched and often include small, triangle shaped “phula” flowers at the corners.

Learn this traditional quilting technique with Shanthi while using scraps from your stash to create a lovely wall hanging or table topper.  After you learn this interesting style of quilting, you can make beautiful items for your home décor.
