Find your center and passion: take care of yourself! This kimono style cardigan is a great first step into sweater knitting. It is perfect for
a beginner or someone recently returning to knitting. The simple
construction and loose fit make it easy to knit and wear. Made entirely in garter
stitch, you will not need to purl any stitches! The result is a ribby texture
with lots of body. If you have the basic skills down but you want a little guidance or
moral support in knitting a project, this class is for you. Participants must be
comfortable with the knit stitch and at least one cast-on method to begin this class.
Other skills you will learn and/or practice in this class are:
- Learning to read a pattern
- Marking and measuring your knitting
- Proper loose bind off
- How to pick up and knit stitches along a front and neckline edge
- Joining edges with a seam
Prior to class, participants must knit a gauge swatch of 20 stitches and 20 rows (not counting cast on row or bind off row) in garter stitch (knit all rows) using Size 9 needles. When completed, swatch should be rinsed in cool water and laid flat to dry. This swatch needs to be brought to the first class.
Be sure to purchase your pattern, yarn, and needles from Silk Road Textiles, online or in store! You will receive a zoom link for the class prior to the first class.
