Learn the different skills needed to sew your own stretch denim jeans. You will learn how to sew a fly front with a jeans zipper and insert denim buttons and rivets. You will also improve your top stitching skills. This course is not designed for perfecting the fit.
Choose either the Closet Core Ginger Jeans (sizes 0-20), featuring either a low rise "stove-pipe" leg or high rise skinny leg, or the Ames Jeans by Cashmerette (sizes 12-32), featuring a high rise, along with “apple” and “pear” pelvis pieces, and skinny and straight leg options.
This class is for intermediate level apparel sewers, so students must be confident reading a pattern and choosing their size by measuring. They should have sewn at least three apparel projects, and, of course, students must be confident using a sewing machine.

Stretch denim with at least 2% lycra and 10-15% crosswise stretch
Cotton Lining for pockets and waistband
Fusible interfacing
Metrosene thread
Mettler 28wt Topstitching Thread
Size 18 Jeans sewing machine needles
Kylie and the Machine Jeans Hardware Refill Kit (includes 7" Jeans zipper, zipper stop, 2 metal buttons, and 8 rivets)
OR 7" jeans zipper, 8mm-9mm rivets, and jeans button
Basic sewing supplies (machine, wonder clips or pins, scissors or rotary cutter)
Hammer, anvil, and a press for shank and rivets will be supplied by instructor (but bring along if you own one)
