For graduates of Flat Pattern (FP) Design only, this class focuses on using the sloper made in FP to make alterations on a commercial pattern so that the resulting garment fits you well. First, you will use your customized sloper to make a dress from the same pattern. Then, with Terry's guidance, you will choose an appropriate pattern to make another garment.

Our Flat Pattern Design series is for the female student with significant apparel sewing experience, and Flat Pattern Design I must be taken prior to taking FP II or FP III.

IMPORTANT:  Your first class will focus on measuring your body.  Wear the same undergarments that you wear on any normal day, as well as somewhat close-fitting clothing for more accurate measurements.

Be sure to purchase your fabric and other supplies from Silk Road Textiles!

Supplies to purchase from SRT:
~ Fabric yardage (approximately 3 yards) needed to create a dress from the sloper pattern. Think of this as a wearable muslin. Save the amazing, more expensive fabric for the second project for this class!
~Metrosene thread
~Additional fabric, notions, and patterns can be purchased as needed during class.

Bring from home:
~ Pattern and completed sloper from FPI
~Design rulers from FPI
~ Shears
~ Paper scissors
~ Tape measure
~ Mechanical pencil #2, size .5
~ (4) different colors of fine-point marking pens- Staedtler Porous Point Pens size 0.3 is a good option, available at Staples
~ Pincushion, pins

Classes are scheduled to be in-person, pending health regulations. Masks and proof of vaccination are required.
