If you have never taken a sewing class at Silk Road Textiles, this class is REQUIRED before taking any other kids' or teens' sewing classes. In this introductory session, you will learn to use and care for a sewing machine. Covered topics include properly threading the needle, winding a bobbin, sewing a straight line, selecting stitch patterns, and good sewing habits. During the first class we will all make pincushions that can be used throughout other sewing classes. During the second and third classes, we will make the messenger bag project found in A Kid's Guide To Sewing by Sophie Kerr.
You are welcome to bring your machine from home or use one of ours - just let us know when you register which you'd prefer. The class price includes a $15 supply credit for you to use to purchase the fabric and thread needed to make your messenger bag.
Required Reading: Most of the projects in our kids' entry level sewing classes come from A Kid's Guide To Sewing by Sophie Kerr. If you do not already own a copy of this book, you will need to purchase one to participate in our classes, so choose the class registration option that includes the book.
Fabric and thread for pincushion and messenger bag included in class price.
