Local Yarn Store Day

April 9 @ 8:00 am - 5:00 pm

Local Yarn Store Day - Support your LYS! Sat. 4/27 10AM-5PM Join the Silk Road Textiles team in celebrating this day dedicated to local yarn stores! Select yarns will be on sale, and we will have discounted kits of Joji Locatelli's Odyssey Shawl, which we'll be hosting a KAL for starting in May. We will also be hosting a trunk show from Coates & Co. Fiber - our local yarn dyer - featuring her new merino yarns, handmade project bags, and handspun yarns. We're excited to be kicking off our hand-spinning program in May, so pick up your drop spindles and fiber while you're here! Come by and show support for your local yarn store!

In this introductory session, you will learn to use and care for a sewing machine. Covered topics include properly threading the needle, winding a bobbin, sewing a straight line, selecting stitch patterns, and good sewing habits. During the class we will all make pincushions that can be used throughout other sewing classes. If time permits, we may also make geometric pillows. You are welcome to bring your machine from home or use one of ours - just let us know when you register which you'd prefer. Required Reading: All the projects in our kids' entry level sewing classes come from A Kid's Guide To Sewing by Sophie Kerr. If you do not already own a copy of this book, you will need to purchase one to participate in our classes.
