pillow_action_KALFundamentals: Get to Know Your Sewing Machine
Cost $25

Skill Level: No Experience Necessary – appropriate for adults and teens

Bring your machine, accessories, attachments, manual, and thread and learn how to operate your own sewing machine with confidence. Threading, bobbin winding, stitching, special features, and simple maintenance will be covered in this very personalized class. All makes and models welcome.  Please let the instructor know at registration what type of machine you will be using. If you would like to learn to sew but do not have your own machine, you may take this class using one of our store machines – simply reserve a machine when you register.


Fundamentals: Pillowcase Panache
Cost $25 + supplies

This is a great first project for the beginner or those wishing to brush up their sewing machine skills. Using two different cuts totaling one yard of fabric, create a banded bed pillow case using basic sewing skills. Choose fabric yourself in the store to match your style.  Student must be able to operate a sewing machine for basic stitching.


Disappearing Nine Patch Quilt
Cost: $50 + supplies

This class is perfect for students that love to make quick-pieced quilt blocks and quilts! To make the Disappearing Nine Patch, a simple nine patch quilt block is sliced in half twice to create four smaller units. This class is a great for beginning quilters or those wishing to build their quilting skills! Classes must be comfortable using a sewing machine.


Wiksten Haori Jacket
Cost: $75 + supplies

Skill Level: Experienced Beginner

Sat. 3/2, 3/9, and 3/16, 9AM-12PM

This beautiful Women’s Haori Jacket pattern from Wiksten patterns is a wardrobe staple! Large pockets and a fold-over collar make this oversized jacket functional, comfortable, and stylish. Fully lined and reversible, it looks more complicated to make than it actually is. The design includes three different lengths to choose from — short (hip length), mid (below-hip length), and long (thigh length). Students must be comfortable using a sewing machine — bring your own or use one of ours.


Trash to Treasure Pineapple Quilt
Cost: $45 (includes ruler)

Start with a fabric you think is fabulous and add a coordinating fabric and scraps to make a pineapple quilt. Uses tool and book by Gyleen Fitzgerald.


Knit Pencil Skirt
Cost: $40

Skill Level: Beginner

Sat. 3/9 1-4PM

In this class, designed for teens and young adults (but also open to anyone 18+), students will learn to make a simple pencil skirt using a knit fabric. In three hours, students will use a pattern to cut out their skirt and sew their skirt together, including an elastic waistband – all great skills to add to your sewing repertoire! Students must be comfortable using a sewing machine.


Basic Piecing Skills: Block 1
Cost: $30 + supplies

Thu. 3/28 10:15AM-1:15PM OR Sat. 3/30 10:15AM-1:15PM

This class is the first of four that will focus on the fundamentals of fabric cutting and piecing. Students in this first block class will learn how to make the four patch block and variations of that pattern. If you are a beginning quilter this is a “must” class for you. If you are an intermediate or advanced quilter this is a great refresher course! Students in this class must be comfortable using a sewing machine.


Million Pillowcase Challenge
Cost: $5 (includes one pillowcase kit)

Mon. March 25 12-5PM

Join us to sew pillowcases for the Million Pillowcase Challenge Sew-a-thon. All pillowcases will be donated locally. We will look for places where people are in need of a smile. Stop by or call the shop at 513.541.3700 to register now! Registration fee of $5 includes one pillowcase kit. Additional kits will be available for purchase during the sew-a-thon, or feel free to bring fabric you want to use. We will have a simple pattern available for you to use. Bring your machine or use one of ours and join us in making smiles!


Quote Quilt

Create your own mini masterpiece in this introductory applique class. Students will learn the basics of raw-edge fusible applique to create their very own unique work of art centered around their favorite quote! Students must be comfortable using a sewing machine.


Cosmic Fun House

Sun. April 14 and 28 12:30-3:30PM AND May 5 12:30-2:30PM

This quilt is a great basic piecing course! In this three-part class, students will learn basic piecing skills and arrange their blocks into a quilt that evokes a sense of flow. Expand your piecing and quilt design knowledge and use the colors and textures of the batik fabrics to let your imagination direct you! Students must be comfortable using a sewing machine.

Thu. 4/18 10:15AM-1:15PM OR Sat. 4/27 10:15AM-1:15PM

This class is the second of a series of four that are focusing on the fundamentals of fabric cutting and piecing. Block 2 will start with a modified four patch which we will then modify with half-square triangles, flying geese and a square within a square. If you are a beginning quilter this is a “must” class for you. If you are an intermediate or advanced quilter, this is a great refresher course or learn new ways to make flying geese and half square triangles.
