Building Blocks
Cost: $15/session or $100 for 12 sessions
with Carolyn Gifreda
Skill Level: Beginner

Sat. 2/9, 3/9, 4/13, 5/11, 6/8, 7/20, 8/10, 9/14, 10/12, 11/9, 12/14, AND 1/12/20 10:30AM-12:30PM OR 12:30-2:30PM

The Building Blocks Series is designed to help knitters navigate through major knitting skills, techniques, and principles. Each of the 12 patterns isolates a new skill. In a carefully designed sequential approach, knitters master each technique before moving on to a more advanced concept. Students will make a new square to practice each new technique, finishing the year with 12 beautiful blocks that can be assembled into a sampler afghan!

Students can jump in at different points, but we recommend following along from beginning to end, so you don’t miss any important steps!

Pincha Shawl
Cost $45 + Supplies
with Carolyn Gifreda
Skill Level: Beginner

Wed. 7/24, 7/31, AND 8/14  6-8PM

Join us as we knit the Pincha shawl, by designer Pinpilan Wangsai. This fun shawl uses only one skein of any sock yarn of your choice, but it looks best when the color is variegated! Choose bright colors for a tropical bird of paradise look or a more subdued colorway for a dreamy soft look that just hints at the shape of feathers. This shawl is full of short rows, so it is helpful (but not necessary) for students to have some experience with short rows. Students must know how to knit, purl, increase, and decrease before taking this class.

Argyle Socks
Cost $45 + Supplies
with Colleen Grogan
Skill Level: Experienced Beginner

Sat. 8/17, 8/24, 9/7, AND 9/28 2-4PM

Learn to knit a traditional argyle sock in a non-traditional way – with the Magic Loop technique in the round! Students in this class will learn to manage yarns as they knit, as well as learning how to connect colorblock lines smoothly, read a colorwork chart, and fit the socks to their own feet! Students will be using Anne Berk’s “Albus Argyle Socks” pattern for this class, and will have the option of using either three or five colors in their design! This is a great class for knitters that have made socks before and are looking for new techniques; students need to have basic sock-knitting knowledge before taking this class.
